Back to the grind
So last week I let up on training some because it was my BIRTHDAY last weekend! :) 24, thank you very much. And of course I kinda got a cold. Happy birthday. lol So between all of those things and the fact that I kinda got a little discouraged I let up on the training. BUTTTT I'm back!
I had been having problems with my calves when I ran. They literally felt as hard as bricks while I ran, like they would crack in two if I kept pushing. This was really discouraging when I would run because I could only get about a mile and then I would have to stop to take a break. But I talked to our athletic trainer, who I work with but he knows all the information lol, and he told me to stretch my calves a different way and that made a WORLD of difference today!! I was able to go a mile and a half before I took a break and then it was for my lungs and quads (lol) but NOT because of my calves! Yay!!
So another hangup was that I couldn't find the motivation to go every day for a race that was so far away. Those who know me know that I like the wire. I need the deadline to push me to get down to business. SOOOO in light of that record, I'm going to run a 5K and then a 10K during my training before the actual half-marathon so that those races will hopefully serve as deadlines and motivations that will keep me on track (Haha get it? On track??? hehehehe) during my training. So I'm planning on a 6K race in Georgetown on February 7. Daniel or Nic and Jo, I may have to crash at your place! Even if I don't spend the night down there we'll definately all have to get together for lunch or something! Yay I NEVER get to see y'all!! I'm looking at 10Ks in mid- or late-March. I'll probably wait until after the 6K to choose the specific 10K.
Anyway, that's my plan. I can already feel and use the pressure of my upcoming 5K to motivate me to work hard and stay on track :) day in and day out.
